What it does
Unicorn Payments commercialises software and provides technology services: systems design and software architecture, backend systems and APIs, and IT consulting. This is engineering and professional services work: it bills for product and for projects, not for moving other people's money.
Why the name contains "Payments"
Worth saying before anyone has to ask: "Payments" is part of a trade name, not of an authorisation. A brand does not confer a licence. Unicorn Payments presents itself publicly as a software, systems and IT consulting brand, and that is the scope of its declared activity.
Accordingly, and unless its documentation and applicable licence say otherwise in a specific jurisdiction, it does not present itself as a payment institution, a bank, a custodian or an investment manager, nor as a virtual asset service provider. Where a product I am involved in incorporates a regulated function, that function belongs to an external provider holding its own licence, and is subject to user eligibility, jurisdiction and that provider's terms.
Why three entities
Each entity exists where there are clients, staff or contracts, and answers for its own activity: the Spanish, US and Emirati companies are distinct entities, each with its own registered address, its own accounting and tax obligations and its own scope. This is not a structure for blurring responsibility — it is the opposite: it makes it possible to point, for any given contract, to which entity signs it and under which law.
I write about why this matters in practice in Building a company across jurisdictions and in Five providers touch a single transaction.
Separation from this website
alexsicart.com is my personal website. It does not provide financial, payment, banking, investment, custody or virtual asset services, does not accept funds and does not solicit investment. Trade names do not imply that an entity is authorised for any activity other than the one described in its documentation and applicable licence. The full detail is in Companies and in the legal notice.
